GOOGLE CODE WEEK (SAP)
During the Africa Code Week 2019, which, took place in October 2019, we held a ‘Code for All’ program in partnership with SAP, CTSC (Cape Town Science Center) with support from Google. Code for all was a basic programming training for a period of 2 weeks (10 working days in October) for young people between ages 6 and 18 in Akure, who had never written a line of code. The training which held in about 15 secondary schools in Akure trained a total of 1105 participants in 10 working days. We launched the program with a ‘Train-The-Trainer’ workshop where we trained selected tutors who had prior knowledge about coding. They were trained on how to impart the knowledge of coding to the kids in the simplest and most interesting way. We trained 22 teachers and 15 volunteers and after the TTT’s workshop, selected trainers who were deemed fit to train embarked on the 10 days training across the selected secondary schools.
